Ketogenic Diet lowers igf-1 levels in Men

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that has been shown to be effective for weight loss and the management of certain health conditions. Some research has suggested that following a ketogenic diet may lead to a decrease in insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels.

IGF-1 is a hormone that plays a role in growth and development. It is produced by the liver and is regulated by growth hormone (GH). Some studies have suggested that high levels of IGF-1 may be associated with an increased risk of certain health problems, such as cancer and insulin resistance.

One study found that following a ketogenic diet for six weeks led to a decrease in IGF-1 levels in obese men. Another study found that a very low-carbohydrate diet led to a decrease in IGF-1 levels in obese women. However, more research is needed to fully understand the effects of the ketogenic diet on IGF-1 levels.
